The most recent single from Galway-based indie band Rofi James, ‘Who Am I To You?’ has had us completely dazzled from the moment we hit play. We just got this tune a few days ago, but we’ve been listening to it a lot. It is perhaps because the song evokes positive emotions and emanates a contagious sensation of well-being from the band’s palpable enthusiasm.
The music is somewhat chill while still providing a lot of strength. It is an indie-pop song that we need now in our lives. Also, it couldn’t have come at a better time, as we were unconsciously looking for a record like this.
Ronan speaks passionately on a subject that is near and dear to his heart. He makes it clear that he is unsure of where he stands with his other half, gives them plenty of attention, but gets nothing in return. At some point in our lives, we have all been in a relationship similar to that and it sucks!
The modern perspective makes the verses relevant in today’s game. Additionally, Ronan frequently switches between his wide vocal range’s low and high registers. Also as Jamie on the drums cohesively creates a foundation that cannot go wrong, Joseph creates an indent with appealing bass tones in the chorus that pins us to the speakers.
