Multi-talented Compton rapper and Grammy nominated producer Problem debuts his new album Coffee & Kush Vol 1 releasing via Diamond Lane Music Group/Rostrum Records. The 10-track project was executive produced by Terrace Martin [Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg] and features additional production from Mike & Keys, 1500 or Nothin’ and newcomers Miles Rose & DJ Kai. Along with the album, Problem introduces a Joshy Gonz directed music video for his insightful album track “Where I Come From.”
Problem says, “This one feels different…musically, physically, mentally, sonically, financially. In every way possible. This is just the beginning. ”
Coffee & Kush Vol 1 features the poignant Nipsey Hussle tribute “Janet Freestyle (Remix)” produced by Nipsey’s in-house production team and Grammy nominated Mike & Keys that premiered earlier this month on Complex. “I originally recorded the song alone on my balcony to the beat from Janet Jackson’s ‘Got ‘till It’s Gone’, explains Problem. “Then I played it for Mike & Keys and it immediately struck a nerve in them. So they added their magic to flip it for this tribute.” Problem released his original J Dilla version of the track as an Instagram exclusive and received a nod and approval from the legendary Ms. Janet Jackson herself.
