Spider Plant, the British composer and music maker, does not lack intriguing compositions; however, with his most recent offering, ‘Mountain,’ he reaches an entirely new level of sophistication. Furthermore, his profound inner feeling flows out of each synth note and drum tap, and it leaves us on the edge of our seats.
‘Mountain’ is one of those easygoing tracks that you can listen to over and over again, and each time you do so, you will get a sense of calm and relaxation. It has a leisurely journey to the summit of the ‘Mountain,’ and the diversity of sounds on exhibit leaves us in astonishment as the noises emerge from the speakers in front of us. The mix is not contemporary, and there is plenty of elements which on paper would not work too well, but Spider Plant has found a way to blend them all together, and it works!
The song builds to a thunderous climax at the end of the composition. The synthesisers begin to swirl about in sync with an apocalyptic roar. It almost gives the impression that everything is heading into a black hole.
Overall, a top-class release, this one from Spider Plant and one which follows his previous releases perfectly!
