Christian hip hop artist Trexyn continues to define his own creative space with “Astronomical,” an atmospheric and experimental release that examines identity, isolation, and faith. Built around cinematic production and a striking beat switch, the track reflects the tension between individuality and a culture that often rewards conformity.
“Astronomical” leans into introspection, turning the experience of feeling out of place into something meaningful. Rather than framing isolation as a weakness, Trexyn presents it as an opportunity for self-discovery. The layered production and unconventional structure mirror that message, creating a sound that resists easy classification while inviting listeners to step outside expectations.
Trexyn’s journey into music began at an early age, sparked by curiosity and access to simple tools. “I got started in music when i was 12 at my grandparents’ house for Christmas break, i dont know why but i searched up ‘online music maker’ on google and found soundtrap. I got the free trial and imminently started making beats. I made a 10 song album that night.” That early moment set the tone for a creative path rooted in experimentation and independence.
His influences evolved later, shaped by the freedom to explore music on his own terms. “Growing up i didn’t have a phone until i was 16, strict parents i know. So i didn’t listen to anything by choice before that but once i had the freedom to choose what i want to listen to i really enjoyed roddy ricch, lil uzi vert, and fetty wap. Currently I dont listen to them much, now i listen to travis scott, don toliver, and myself.” That mix of melodic rap and boundary pushing production can be heard in the sonic direction of “Astronomical.”
When asked to define his sound, Trexyn embraces the ambiguity. “I actually have no idea how to answer this, its been a question ive had in my head for a long time now. Ive heard myself grow from my very first song, to someone else i might sound worse or amazing because they have no context of my sound before. Overall its out of the box, not in a crazy way. But its not a sound you can easily classify.”
Faith remains central to both his identity and his artistry. “Faith is a requirement for me, i feel growing up i was very out of place. All my favorite artists were secular, all rap fans assumed you were secular as a rapper. Christian rap at the time was very old sounding and not enjoyable for my generation. I feel faith is most important because without it i lose what makes me stand out.” That perspective shapes the message behind “Astronomical,” grounding its themes in something deeper than surface level storytelling.
His connection to faith also developed in a way that feels personal and distinct. “My music has always been rightous since day 1. Although my family was not religious and only went to church on Easter. I personally did not think much about Christ, i was a child with dreams in mind. Eventually Christianity was getting popular on social media i found a common ground with Jesus. Which is another reason i feel out of place, most people start out secular and slowly turn to Christ, for me i was always with Christ and didn’t know it until I learned about Christ.”
With “Astronomical,” Trexyn offers more than a song. He creates a space for listeners navigating their own sense of identity, proving that standing apart can be a source of strength rather than something to overcome.
