Darling Nikki Introduces ‘Hippie Soul’ With Cinematic Single “Stay”

Independent artist Darling Nikki steps confidently into the spotlight with her debut EP, ‘Hippie Soul,’ a fully self written and self produced project that serves as both an introduction and a declaration. Rooted in a rich blend of soul, funk, and vintage pop, the EP captures a modern retro sound shaped by analog warmth and a clear artistic vision. More than just a title, ‘Hippie Soul’ represents a philosophy that defines both the music and the artist behind it. As she explains, “I make Hippie Soul because I am a Hippie Soul.”

That identity resonates throughout the project. Raised as a free spirit and deeply inspired by the ideals of the hippie movement, Düsseldorf, Germany’s Darling Nikki builds her music on themes of freedom, creativity, and emotional honesty. Across the EP, she explores love, loss, healing, faith, and inner growth, creating a listening experience that feels both personal and universal. Each track carries a sense of intention, shaped by her hands-on involvement at every stage of creation. “Music to me is far more than entertainment,” she explains. “It’s freedom, vibration, frequency and raw emotion, allowing something greater to move through me. It reconnects me with my soul.”

‘Hippie Soul’ also reflects a global spirit. Collaborators from Brazil, Turkey, Germany, and the United Kingdom contribute to the project’s layered sound, adding depth while preserving Nikki’s central vision. That international reach mirrors her own journey as an artist, which began in a musical family and has led to performances alongside Dionne Warwick and Larry Graham of Sly Stone and Prince fame, along with television appearances and global media recognition.

Leading the EP is the standout single “Stay,” a cinematic and emotionally charged track that blends Motown influences with the grandeur of classic 1960s film scores. Recorded live and entirely in analog, the song pairs sweeping strings and bold horns with a deeply personal narrative. “For all I ever wanted is to be with you, this truth I can’t deny, it’s written in the books, I’m yours, you’re mine, stay.” The lyric captures the vulnerability at the heart of the song and sets the tone for the broader themes explored across the EP.

The visual world of “Stay” expands that storytelling even further. Filmed among the dramatic rock formations of Capo Testa in Sardinia, the accompanying video leans into a retro, space age aesthetic inspired by 1960s science fiction. Nikki casts herself as the central heroine, reinforcing the project’s blend of nostalgia and individuality. “To me, music is emotion first,” she says. “If a song doesn’t make you feel something, nothing else matters. Stay is about allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to say the words we sometimes wish we had said.”

That emotional openness defines ‘Hippie Soul’ from start to finish. Alongside “Stay,” the EP includes her debut single “Elvis,” which gained traction on German national radio and attracted international blog attention, as well as “Time 2 Let Go” and “On The Other Side.” Each track contributes to a cohesive body of work that feels authentic, intentional, and fully realized.

With ‘Hippie Soul,’ Darling Nikki delivers more than a debut. She offers a complete artistic identity rooted in soul, freedom, and timeless expression.
