Independent artist Darling Nikki steps confidently into the spotlight with her debut EP, ‘Hippie Soul,’ a fully self written and self produced project that serves as both an introduction and a declaration. Rooted in a rich blend of soul, funk, and vintage pop, the EP captures a modern retro sound shaped by analog warmth and a clear artistic vision. More than just a title, ‘Hippie Soul’ represents a philosophy that defines both the music and the artist behind it. As she explains, “I make Hippie Soul because I am a Hippie Soul.”

Raised as a free spirit and deeply inspired by the ideals of the hippie movement, Düsseldorf, Germany’s Darling Nikki builds her music on themes of freedom, creativity, and emotional honesty. Recorded live and entirely in analog, the song pairs sweeping strings and bold horns with a deeply personal narrative. “For all I ever wanted is to be with you, this truth I can’t deny, it’s written in the books, I’m yours, you’re mine, stay.” The lyric captures the vulnerability at the heart of the song and sets the tone for the broader themes explored across the EP.
The visual world of “Stay” expands that storytelling even further. Filmed among the dramatic rock formations of Capo Testa in Sardinia, the accompanying video leans into a retro, space age aesthetic inspired by 1960s science fiction. Nikki casts herself as the central heroine, reinforcing the project’s blend of nostalgia and individuality. “To me, music is emotion first,” she says. “If a song doesn’t make you feel something, nothing else matters. Stay is about allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to say the words we sometimes wish we had said.”
