Who is T.U. Savant
Brooklyn native Patrick Mowery Hall, better known as T.U. Savant, is an artist with a mission. Under the label PSR, T.U. Savant brings a unique voice to hip-hop, blending passion, personal triumph, and advocacy into every bar he spits. His journey began at the age of 13 when his father gifted him a beat machine and a tape recorder. From that moment, the foundation of T.U. Savant’s artistry was laid.
Inspired by the lyrical prowess of Jay-Z, T.U. Savant has crafted a style he describes as “hip-hop/rap with a twist.” But it’s more than just music for him. It’s about rewriting narratives and including voices often left out of the mainstream conversation. Diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome as a child, T.U. Savant faced significant challenges. Reflecting on the moment he received his diagnosis, he recalls, “It made my mom cry and run out of the doctor’s office—I remember it like it was yesterday.” The loss of his mother and brother in the mid-2000s only deepened his resolve to make his mark in music.
Hip-Hop Advocate
T.U. Savant’s advocacy extends far beyond his beats. “I am an advocate for Autism, Tourette’s syndrome, Down syndrome, and all types of disability disorders,” he shares. His aim? To give the developmental disability community a platform through hip-hop, the genre he calls “the best community for my people.”
Through his music, T.U. Savant flips challenges into triumphs, transforming what he calls his “minor retardation” into “genius-level bars.” His journey embodies resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to creating space for others like him in the music industry. “I see me in all of them,” he says of the community he represents. “I’m so blessed that I got blessed with my musical talent to spit bars. I remember when I had no voice; it was the worst feeling. I want no kid or adult with a developmental disability to be left out of that conversation no more.”
Plans for the Future
Currently, T.U. Savant is focused on propelling his album to double platinum status and dreaming of performing on global stages. While working toward his goals, he’s also laying the groundwork for his next album, with plans to collaborate with top-tier artists.
